 Lafayette Consolidated Government and the Lafayette Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP) are hosting a public meeting to gather community input for the 2026 Hazard Mitigation Plan.

 Residents, business owners, and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and share feedback on flooding, drainage, severe weather, and other natural hazards that impact our parish. Your input plays a vital role in shaping strategies that strengthen emergency preparedness and build long-term community resilience.

Household Hazardous Waste Day ()

Household Hazardous Waste Day is set for Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Cajun Field!

City of Lafayette and unincorporated Lafayette Parish residents can safely dispose of unwanted household chemicals, electronics, and glass that can’t be placed curbside.

Accepted items include: paints, pesticides, pool chemicals, gasoline, computer equipment, phones, printers, gaming consoles, and rinsed food/beverage glass containers.

Items NOT accepted include: appliances, TVs, office copiers, auto batteries, motor oil, medicines, and more.
