 Lafayette Consolidated Government and the Lafayette Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP) are hosting a public meeting to gather community input for the 2026 Hazard Mitigation Plan updates.

Residents, business owners, and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and share feedback on flooding, drainage, severe weather, and other natural hazards that impact our parish. Your input plays a vital role in shaping strategies that strengthen emergency preparedness and build long-term community resilience.

Low-Cost Microchip Clinic at LASCC ()

Help protect your pet with permanent identification! The Lafayette Animal Shelter & Care Center (LASCC) is hosting a low-cost microchip clinic.

This clinic is open to the public and welcomes dogs and cats.

Event details:
• Microchips: $15 per pet
• Includes lifetime registration
• Payment accepted: cash or credit cards only

Most lost pets are found within just 1–3 miles of their home. A microchip provides a reliable, permanent way to reunite pets with their families if they go missing. LASCC scans every pet upon intake, and veterinary clinics will scan found pets at no cost.

This clinic is part of LASCC’s quarterly microchip clinic series, making it easier year-round for pet owners to take this important step.

MLK Sidewalk Groundbreaking ()

Join Lafayette Consolidated Government for a groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the start of the MLK Sidewalk Improvements Project along Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

This project includes the removal and replacement of damaged sidewalk sections with a new 5-foot-wide concrete sidewalk from the I-49 Frontage Road to Lincoln Street and represents an important investment in pedestrian access, safety, and neighborhood connectivity. Improvements will also include the installation of subsurface drainage pipes and structures to support long-term durability and pedestrian safety.
