The Jessie L. Taylor Center and Lafayette Consolidated Government’s Housing and Community Services will host its first-ever Spanish-Speaking Homeownership Workshop on July 23 and 24 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. The workshop will provide valuable insights and support to prospective homeowners in the community and offer a comprehensive overview of the home-buying process featuring presentations from professional service individuals including a lender, realtor, inspector, insurance agent, and attorney.

BISSELL Pet Foundation, a national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending pet homelessness, is prompting a national call for adoption this spring with its Empty the Shelters reduced-fee adoption event from July 8-31, 2024. The Lafayette Animal Shelter & Care Center will participate along with more than 390 shelters in 44 states.

Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG)’s Public Works Department announces the closure of Canberra Road, approximately 0.40 miles east of Johnston Street, beginning July 8, 2024. This closure is scheduled for approximately eight months for crews to remove and replace the existing bridge along with the associated roadway, drainage and water lines.
