LCG COVID-19 Health Equity Task Force

The mission of the LCG Health Equity Task Force is to stop the spread of the coronavirus in Districts 1 and 5 of Lafayette City and Parish and to promote the long-term health and wellness of the African-American community, and other impacted communities, by forming partnerships, engaging and educating the community, increasing testing and connecting health care providers and the public to COVID-19 equipment and supplies.

The work of the LCG COVID-19 Health Equity Task Force is carried out by its 4 Work Groups.

Test Sites Work Group
The mission of the Test Sites Work Group is to identify, assess, support and increase COVID-19 test sites in Districts 1 and 5 and to increase the number of people being tested, educated and protected from COVID-19 disease.

Health & Wellness Work Group
The mission of the Health and Wellness Work Group is to plan equitable short and long-term strategies and action items, while collaborating with the other Task Force Workgroups to assist with providing health education information and supporting coordinated health screenings that will improve the underlying health conditions among residents living in District 1 and 5, while supporting community-wide efforts to provide COVID-19 testing.

Community Outreach and Engagement Work Group
The mission of the Community Outreach and Engagement Work Group is to assist the Task Force with crafting it’s messages, connecting with communities most affected by COVID-19 and communicating the Task Force’s messages through social media, PSA’s, printed materials and other multimedia platforms.

Data Collection and Reporting Work Group
The mission of the Data Collection and Reporting Work Group is to compile important COVID-19 numbers and statistics for Districts 1 and 5 including numbers of people tested, positive cases, positivity rates and deaths.
