Ken Stansbury is newly-elected for his first term representing Lafayette Parish Council District 3, but previously served on the Youngsville City Council since 2015, service from which he recently resigned following his election to the Parish Council. He was born in Lapeer, Michigan and has lived in Lafayette Parish for 39 years. Councilman Stansbury is married to Jodi Stansbury and they share three (3) children – Sophia Velotta, Ashlyn Stansbury, and Hudson Velotta. He works as Financial Advisor with Cornerstone Financial Group and has been an advisor for 17 years. Councilman Stansbury also serves as Intelligence Officer in the Louisiana Air National Guard with the 122d Air Support Operations Squadron. He is a graduate of University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a bachelor’s of science degree and University of Phoenix with a master’s of business administration degree. The accomplishment that gives Councilman Stansbury the most pride is having the opportunity to serve the Rotarians of Lafayette Parish as Assistant District Governor. During this tenure, he had the opportunity to lead the effort to bring The Choices Workshop to the 8th graders in Lafayette Parish. The program’s goal is to inspire youth to complete high school education and begin thinking about postsecondary education. Councilman Stansbury is also proud of his nine (9) years of service on the Youngsville City Council and all that he and his colleagues were able to accomplish as a team. He was initially inspired to a life of public service because of the way his parents raised him and, looking forward, his children give him the inspiration to continue public service.
