E. VEROT SCHOOL ROAD BRIDGE REPAIRS

Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) has started repairs on the E. Verot School Road Bridge, located east of W. Pinhook Road and spanning Coulee des Poches. The $1.3 million project, led by SIEMA Construction, LLC with Geo-Stabilization, Inc. as a subcontractor, will include subsurface drainage installation, soil nail wall installation, abutment repair, approach slab repair, and structural concrete patching.

Construction began on March 5, 2025, and is expected to take approximately six months, though progress will depend on weather conditions.

Not only is this the first time LCG will utilize Soil Nail Wall construction, but LCG is the first in the state to do so. Soil Nail Wall construction is a technique that reinforces and stabilizes soil slopes by inserting closely-spaced steel bars, or “nails,” into the ground and securing them with grouted concrete, creating a retaining structure that resists erosion and shifting, enhancing structural integrity and extending the bridge’s lifespan.
