LOUISIANA STATE LEGISLATURE PASSES SCR 41 TO EXPEDITE COMPLETION OF INTERSTATE 49 LAFAYETTE CONNECTOR

Lafayette, LA – The Louisiana State Legislature has passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 41 (SCR 41), introduced by Senator Blake Miguez, which urges and requests the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) to expedite the process to complete the Interstate 49 Lafayette Connector. This vital infrastructure project will significantly enhance transportation efficiency and economic development in the region.

Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet has been actively collaborating with Lafayette area legislators to advance this resolution, reflecting a united effort at the city, parish, and state levels. The passing of SCR 41 highlights a shared commitment to ensuring the timely completion of the I-49 Lafayette Connector.

According to DOTD, the completion of the Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) and the Secondary Record of Decision (SROD) are critical steps required before construction of the I-49 Lafayette Connector can commence. These items are on schedule for completion by the end of 2025. Once the SEIS and SROD are completed, funding can be secured for the I-49 Lafayette Connector with construction following.

The Lafayette City and Parish Councils have previously passed similar resolutions, reinforcing the collective urgency and support for the project. This alignment among municipal and state bodies aims to keep DOTD on track to meet the established timeline and bring the long-awaited I-49 Lafayette Connector to fruition.
