Chief of Staff directly supervises the operations of Emergency Management, Animal Shelter & Care Center, 311 C/P Communications Services, Communications & Media, Disability Awareness, Security, and Municipal and Constituent Services.
Christina Dayries serves as the Chief of Staff in the Mayor-President’s Office of Lafayette Consolidated Government and was appointed in January 2024.
Christina is an accomplished and energetic executive administrator with more than 27 years of experience with a solid history of achievement in state and local government. She’s a motivated leader with strong organizational and prioritization abilities. Her areas of expertise include policy development, budget management, and grant program administration.
Christina previously held the position of Deputy Director/Chief of Staff with the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP). She directly supervised all aspects of the agency's preparedness, prevention, response, recovery and mitigation activities. Christina is a recipient of numerous awards and accolades and recognized nationally for development of the State’s 700MHz radio system, grant applications, and multiple GOHSEP publication documents.
Dayries has been known as the "spark plug" for numerous emergency management and disaster recovery initiatives throughout her career focusing on creating and implementing policy initiatives to foster a prepared and resilient Louisiana.
She attended McNeese State University (MSU) and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL-L) for business management. She is originally from Abbeville and currently resides in Maurice with her husband John.
