TEMPORARY LANE CLOSURE ON S. BUCHANAN STREET FOR SEWER REPAIR

Lafayette, LA – A section of the northeast-bound lane on S. Buchanan Street near E. Congress Street (400 block) will be closed from Monday, September 1 through Friday, September 19, 2025 while crews repair a sewer line.

This closure allows Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) crews to safely repair the sewer mainline and restore the roadway. This work is part of LUS’s Point Repair Project, which includes 36 total repairs—this site is one of the final four. The lane will remain closed until the cement has time to properly set.

Traffic Information:

• Local access will be maintained.
• Detours for northeast-bound drivers will be marked along E. Congress Street, Jefferson Street, and Garfield Street.

The temporary closure is necessary to safely access and restore the sewer infrastructure. Both LCG and LUS appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation while these essential improvements are completed.
