MAYOR-PRESIDENT MONIQUE B. BOULET SELECTED FOR BLOOMBERG HARVARD CITY LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE

Joins global cohort of mayors in executive leadership training to improve city services and resident outcomes

Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet has been selected for the ninth class of the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative, joining 47 mayors from 17 countries for an intensive executive management training program designed to strengthen city halls and improve quality of life for residents.

The Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative was established by Bloomberg Philanthropies, Harvard Kennedy School, and Harvard Business School as a first-of-its-kind program to help close the executive development gap in the public sector. It provides mayors and senior municipal leaders with the tools, data, and global best practices needed to solve complex local challenges.

“It’s an honor to represent Lafayette in a program designed to help cities lead smarter, plan better, and deliver results that improve lives,” said Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet. “We’re working every day to build a government that is responsive, resilient, and prepared for the future.”

The program is housed at the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University and includes nine months of classroom, virtual, and field-based training led by Harvard faculty and global experts. The curriculum helps cities strengthen decision-making, data use, cross-sector collaboration, and performance. Two senior members of the Boulet Administration will also begin their participation in the program this August.

The four-day kickoff session is being held in New York City and features instruction from world-renowned leaders in government innovation and management. Since its launch in 2017, the Initiative has served 359 mayors and more than 635 senior officials in 41 countries. Notable alumni include the mayors of Charleston, Memphis, Oklahoma City, Philadelphia, San Antonio, and Shreveport, among others.
