LAFAYETTE OHSEP URGES RESIDENTS TO REPORT HOME DAMAGE FROM FLASH FLOODING AT DAMAGE.LA.GOV
Lafayette, LA –The Lafayette Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP) urges residents to report damage to their homes caused by the recent flash flooding event. The Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) has activated the Damage.LA.Gov online reporting tool, allowing homeowners to self-report property damage resulting from significant weather events, including floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and more.
Residents can access the reporting portal at damage.la.gov to submit information about the location and severity of home damage. This data will help local, state, and federal agencies assess the impact and expedite the recovery process. While submitting a report is essential for damage assessment, homeowners are still encouraged to file claims with their insurance companies. Please note that submitting a damage report does not guarantee federal assistance.
Documentation is Key: To ensure an accurate assessment, homeowners should take detailed photos of the damage for both the damage report and insurance claims.
For more information and to report damage, visit damage.la.gov.
