CLOSURE OF E. LEWIS STREET BRIDGE FOR REPAIRS

Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) announces the temporary closure of the E. Lewis Street bridge crossing Coulee Mine for necessary repairs. The initial closure is scheduled from July 30 to August 15, 2024. This period will allow for essential maintenance and ensure the safety and integrity of the bridge.

In consideration of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s move-in dates, the E. Lewis Street bridge will reopen to traffic from August 16 through August 18. Following these dates, the bridge will close again on August 19 for approximately two months to complete the remaining repairs.

Detour routes will be clearly marked and available to ensure minimal disruption. Local access will be maintained throughout the closure period.
