TAMMY LUKE APPOINTED AS DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT & PLANNING

Lafayette, LA – Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet announces the appointment of Tammy Luke as the new Director of Community Development & Planning. Tammy brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of excellence in development, having served as the Director of Planning & Zoning for St. Mary Parish since February 2010, among other planning roles. Tammy is a Certified Building Official (CBO) and has served as a board member, President-Elect, President and Past-President for the Building Officials Association of Louisiana.

During her tenure with St. Mary Parish, Tammy coordinated internal efforts across departments to ensure the successful execution of various programs. Her role involved maintaining current knowledge of industry trends and best practices related to planning activities, facilitating collaborative decision-making processes among stakeholders from multiple sectors, and monitoring progress against established benchmarks with timely updates to the leadership team.

Tammy’s expertise extends to understanding economic and legal issues involved in zoning codes, building codes, and environmental regulations. She has supervised and coordinated the work of planning technicians and technologists, recommended approvals, denials, and conditional approvals of proposals, and prepared, developed, and maintained maps and databases.

Tammy's experience also covers conducting interviews, surveys, and site inspections concerning zoning, traffic flow, and housing, as well as preparing, maintaining, and updating files and records of land use data and statistics. She has provided mentorship and supervision to a team of planners, offering guidance on policy formulation and implementation strategies for senior management.

In her new role as Director of Community Development & Planning at Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG), Tammy will leverage her extensive background to enhance business performance and drive the objectives of LCG. Known for her resourcefulness, results-driven approach and passion for growth and efficiency, Tammy is expected to contribute to meeting the needs of the community.

Tammy Luke is a seasoned Director of Planning & Zoning with a strong work ethic and a high level of motivation, making her a perfect fit for this critical role in Lafayette’s continued development and planning efforts. Tammy will assume her role effective June 3, 2024.
