Celebrating America250 in Lafayette Parish: Honoring 250 Years of American History

In 2026,the United States will commemorate its 250th anniversary, marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The national America250 initiative is a nationwide commemoration recognizing the people, places, and events that have shaped our country’s history and future.

In Lafayette Parish, we are proud to participate in this historic milestone by highlighting our local heritage, honoring community leaders and cultural traditions, and sharing the stories that connect our parish to the broader American experience. Through events, educational programming, and community engagement, Lafayette Parish’s America250 celebration will reflect on our shared past while inspiring civic pride for generations to come.
