LCG STRENGTHENS PARC WITH TWO KEY HIRES AND DEPARTMENT REORGANIZATION
Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) is announcing two critical leadership hires in the Parks, Arts, Recreation & Culture (PARC) department, part of a reorganization designed to better serve residents and strengthen parish-wide recreation for Lafayette’s future.
Eric Mouton, a former Ragin’ Cajuns basketball player with more than three decades of experience as a coach and athletic director, has been named Athletics Programs Manager. Mouton has spent 18 years leading high school athletic programs and brings deep expertise in youth development, program growth, and community engagement.
“Sports have always been bigger than the scoreboard for me,” said Mouton. “They’re about teaching young people how to lead, respond to challenges, and find confidence in themselves. Recreation is the heartbeat of a community—when kids are playing, families are gathering, and neighbors are cheering, we’re not just building athletes, we’re building a stronger community.”
Joshua Gary has been appointed Parks and Recreational Maintenance Manager, bringing more than 20 years of leadership experience in operations, maintenance, and project management. Gary has led capital improvement initiatives across North America and built teams rooted in accountability, efficiency, and care for the communities they serve.
“It is my honor to serve the Lafayette community in this role,” said Gary. “I’m dedicated to leading with transparency, teamwork, and a strong commitment to serving our residents. I look forward to building on the department’s legacy and working to create safe, welcoming, and well-maintained spaces that foster enjoyment and bring people together.”
A Needed Reorganization
Previously, responsibilities for athletics, therapeutic programs, and maintenance were consolidated under a single “Programs and Maintenance Manager” role. Under the new structure:
- Athletics will be led by the Athletics Programs Manager, ensuring dedicated leadership for youth sports and community athletics.
- Parks maintenance will be overseen by the Parks and Recreational Maintenance Manager, allowing for greater focus on facility upkeep and capital improvements.
- Therapeutic and recreational programming now falls under the Recreation Centers and Programs Manager, Alena Fields.
This reorganization reflects LCG’s commitment to providing high-quality, accessible, and well-maintained parks and programs that meet the evolving needs of the Lafayette community. With new leadership in place, PARC is positioned to deliver modern recreational programs and safe, vibrant spaces that enhance quality of life for all residents.
