LCG CONTINUES TO STREAMLINE ONLINE SERVICES AND IMPROVE CUSTOMER SERVICE
Residents and contractors can now apply online for permits and request inspections
Lafayette, LA – Contractors and residents seeking permits and requesting inspections can now easily submit applications and plans online. The Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) MyGovernmentOnline platform is more convenient, efficient, and time-saving. “The new online service is a one-stop-shop for residents and contractors. It saves time, time from traveling to the office to fill out a paper application,” Community Planning and Development Department Director Mary Sliman said.
Contractors and residents have the ability to:
- Apply online for building permits, trade permits, and submit municipal permitting applications
- Pay permit fees online with Visa and Mastercard
- Submit plans and documents in PDF format (the only format accepted)
- Track application progress up to permit issuance or notice of approval
- Request inspections online
- View completed inspection reports
- View and print copies of review comment letters
- View and print copies of “In-Compliance” building plans
- Receive real-time e-mail or telephone call notifications when an inspection is completed
When requesting inspections online, requests must be made no later than 12 p.m. to have the inspection performed the same business day. Apply for a permit and request an inspection at
https://www.mygovernmentonline.org/.
Assistance with how to use MyGovernmentOnline should be directed to the MGO technical support line at 1-866-957-3764, option 1. Questions pertaining to when a permit is required should be directed to the LCG Community Planning and Development Department at 337-291-8200.
Last week, LCG launched the Permit and Planning Guide, a new, one-of-a-kind online tool to help residential and commercial builders navigate required permits and estimate costs for projects. Once users complete that process, they are conveniently led directly to the MyGovernmentOnline website where they can apply for required permits. The Permit and Planning Guide can be accessed at https://www.lafayettela.gov/DP/default.
