CLASS TITLE: SERVICE STATION ATTENDANT
MINIMUM STARTING PAY: HOURLY - $9.96-$12.44/DOE, MONTHLY - $1,726-$2,157/DOE
PURPOSE AND NATURE OF WORK
Responsible for the non-mechanical servicing of vehicles, including changing oil, greasing, servicing batteries, changing tires and other related duties. Position requires regular heavy lifting. Hours are from 11:30 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., Monday through Friday or 7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M., Monday through Friday, depending on position available at time of hire. SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM MAY INVOLVE A PAY INCREASE UP TO $12.44 PER HOUR, PENDING FUNDING.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school and experience in servicing automotive equipment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATION
Valid driver’s license required to apply. Possession of a valid Louisiana driver’s license, prior to appointment.
APPRENTICESHIP
Positions in this class are assigned to an apprenticeship as defined by Civil Service Rule IV, Section 6. This requires the employee to complete initial and ongoing training requirements established by the Public Works Department, Operations, Fleet Maintenance division, within one (1) year for continued employment.
TYPE OF EXAMINATION
Examination will be a written test.
