CLASS TITLE: EQUIPMENT OPERATOR IV (LUS Water Distribution)
MINIMUM STARTING PAY: HOURLY - $14.81-$18.51/DOE, MONTHLY - $2,567-$3,209/DOE
PURPOSE AND NATURE OF WORK
Operate heavy equipment in the construction, maintenance, and repair of Water Distribution network of pipelines and supporting infrastructure. May supervise the members of a crew to ensure that work schedules are maintained. Operate a backhoe and other heavy equipment such as tractor, mini-excavator, and dump truck. Transport equipment on 16’ trailer.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school and experience in the operation of heavy equipment similar to those types listed herein, including some experience in precision work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATION
Applicants must have at least a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) permit to apply and test, but must obtain a Louisiana Class A CDL with Air Brake and Combination Endorsements, prior to appointment.
TYPE OF EXAMINATION
Performance test on independent and safe operation of backhoe.
