CLASS TITLE: ELECTRICAL ENGINEER II (Electric System Construction)

MINIMUM STARTING PAY:  HOURLY - $28.42-$35.53/DOE - MONTHLY - $4,926-$6,158/DOE

PURPOSE AND NATURE OF WORK

Position ensures timely and quality construction, renovation and maintenance, according to lawful codes and regulations, of municipal facilities. Employees of this classification apply knowledge of electrical engineering to problems and/or assignments requiring familiarity with the methods and materials of the electric system. Prepares designs, specifications and bid packages of construction or renovation projects with independence, subject to review by a registered superior. Evaluates bids, administers contracts, and prepares change orders.  Ascertains contractor and in-house compliance with applicable standards, codes or regulations. Incumbents work under the direction of a registered Professional Engineer and may supervise Engineering Aides or other technical positions.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Possession of the Engineer Intern certificate by examination in the State of Louisiana; if non-resident, possession of equivalent certification to obtain Louisiana certificate.

NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATION

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university (or equivalent in another jurisdiction) AND significant prior working experience as an Engineer I.

TYPE OF EXAMINATION

Exam will be a ratings of education and experience through a structured interview.
