COMMUNITY CLEANUP EVENTS SPRINGING INTO ACTION
Lafayette, LA – There are several upcoming community environmental events in Lafayette Parish, offering residents the opportunity to responsibly dispose of debris, shred sensitive documents, and participate in cleanup efforts. These events are part of Love the Boot Week, Louisiana’s largest litter removal and beautification effort.
Paper Shredding Day – April 5, 2025
Residents can bring confidential documents for secure shredding at Paper Shredding Day on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Robicheaux Recreation Center (1919 Eraste Landry Road).
By shredding sensitive documents, participants reduce the risk of identity theft while also ensuring that shredded paper is recycled responsibly.
Important Guidelines:
- Documents must be free of binders and clips, but stapled papers are acceptable.
- Limit of 3 kitchen-size garbage bags per household.
- Only personal and sensitive documents will be accepted; business documents, magazines, books, and newspapers will not be accepted.
Debris Drop-Off Day – April 12, 2025
On Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., residents of the City of Lafayette and unincorporated areas of Lafayette Parish can take advantage of LCG’s Debris Drop-Off Day to dispose of items that are not typically collected curbside or do not fit into residential waste carts.

- Brown Park: 1234 E. Pont Des Mouton Road
- Robicheaux Recreation Center: 1919 Eraste Landry Road

- Appliances
- Bags/Containers of Trash
- Bicycles
- Car Parts
- Construction Debris
- Home & Lawn Furniture
- Metal
- Tires (limit of 5 per person)
- Wood
Trash Bash – April 12, 2025
Keep Lafayette Beautiful and LCG’s Environmental Quality Division, in partnership with the Bayou Vermilion District and Acadiana Waste Services (AWS), invite residents to participate in Trash Bash on Saturday, April 12, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Volunteers will help clean up Lafayette’s streets, parks, and waterways and enjoy a post-cleanup celebration with a free t-shirt and lunch.
How to Participate:
- Volunteers can register by calling 337-291-5637 or emailing recycling@lafayettela.gov.
- Supplies, including gloves, litter bags, litter grabbers, and high-visibility vests, will be provided at the Begnaud House (500 Fisher Road).
- Volunteers should bring a durable water bottle, wear closed-toe shoes, and apply sunscreen.
Parish Proud Day – April 12, 2025
Parish Proud, in partnership with Lafayette PARC, will host Parish Proud Day at the Domingue Recreation Center, Clark Field, and the Greenhouse Senior Center on April 12, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Volunteers will work on beautification projects such as painting, landscaping, mulching, and litter pickup to enhance these community spaces.
How to Get Involved:
- Community members are encouraged to register for a service project at one of the three designated locations.
- Volunteers can sign up at www.parishproud.org.
